Zingology is an Ithaca, NY based swing/jazz combo inspired by Django Reinhardt and specializing in the Great American Songbook. They feature tunes that accompanied the dance scene of the Savoy ballroom in NYC, and the Hot Foot Club of Paris. In a word, Zingology is a vintage swing combo whose repertoire is from the era of the 1920’s through the 1940’s. Be sure to bring your dance shoes to any of their gigs at various wineries, restaurants and dance venues in the Finger Lakes Area and in northeast Pennsylvania.
The core of the group now includes Ted Caldwell on standup bass, Brian Keeler and Art Godin on guitars. We have two wonderful soloists in the core combo now as well, Joanna Green playing fiddle and Sue Smith on the chromatic harmonica. On some gigs Michelle Gordon joins us on flute, Brian Earl plays clarinet and Chad Liberman has also joined us. And occasionally Greg Smith or Doug Robinson will sit in on standup bass. Harry Aceto plays guitar with us on occasion along with Greg Ezra and Caroline Taylor on Drums.
The combo recorded their second CD last year, titled “Nuages” with 17 tracks of gypsy swing.
